Calendar says Fall,

Thermometer screams July!

Women's Halter Neck Jewel Tone Cocktail Dresses

With October temperatures in much of the country hovering around an unseasonably warm 80 degrees, we face a fashion conundrum daily of what to wear a how? MTStyle feels your pain, and and is here to help your with your transitional style.

The key to dressing for the season, ie Fall, while accommodating the hot reality, is to focus on lightweight garments, in seasonal colors, which can be layered and removed throughout the day as needed.

Embrace the season with darker shades, in lightweight, breathable fabrics like cotton and silk. Jewel tones such assapphire and ruby (pictured right) and emerald, amethyst, garnet work well this time of year. Ditto deeper, darker shades of pastels - just picture peach with a splash of chocolate and arrive at an autumnal salmon hue, or how about peridot with a hand-full of sapphires for a rich blue-teal.

Earth tones like tan, rust, and brown evoke the fall season, and “uniform colors” like navy, grey, army green, and maroon are appropriate this time of year. Black, brown and charcoal are ideal choices as well, which can be brightened up with pops of color via scarves and ponchos.

Remember that the weather is changeable, ranging from cool mornings to hot noons, and later, to chilly evenings--so it is essential to be prepared. Layering is sensible and can also reveal your personal style; wear cardigans and blazers when heading out in the morning, doff it off to reveal a blouse during the heat of the day.

Camis worn under a shirt allow for unbuttoning if further cooling off is needed. Throw a colorful scarf around your neck that can double as a shawl if your destination has an overzealous air-conditioning system, or Mother Nature decides to re-launch Fall. You'll be ready when she does!
