ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Elegance, respect for nature and integrity in design are ideals held dear by Melody Graves, Creative and Designer at Melody Thomas Studio, Fashion and Materials Designer of Melody Thomas Studio. She creates a collection influenced by her Bermuda origins, years spent in New England as an Environmental Planner and keen interest in cultural history.
Melody applies the luxuriously natural materials of cotton, cashmere, merino, alpaca and silk to designs that celebrate the female form in finely tailored jackets and coats, fit-conscious trousers and skirts, casual, formal and cocktail dresses and blouses.
Her major influence is her mother, from whom she acquired tailoring and dressmaking skills in her early years. Melody has also gleaned inspiration from industry masters such as Emilio Pucci, Issey Miyaki and Christian Dior, for her engineered materials, fabrication and design.

THE ATELIER GARMENTS
Referred to as Atelier (originating from the French meaning wood splinters or chips from a carpenters workshop), Fabrics, these original textiles are used to create the MTS Atelier Line segment. And, while exclusive in design, items from MTS Atelier can be purchased form market segments ranging from the luxury Designer Collection to the affordable Contemporary Edge.

OUR OBJECTIVES
In support of our goals, we aim the provide high-quality, style-conscious garments ranging from silk cocktail dresses and wedding wear for our customers formal occasions, to denim jackets, and knitwear for travel, resort, and casual occasions; and also, from finely tailored jackets and silk blouses for the office, to sheaths and Palazzo pants suitable for socials and special occasions.

Our logo, the Châtelaine, symbolizes feminine strength and leadership, versatility in function and design, and, high quality paired with beauty, is a constant reminder to the designer of the reason for establishing the brand during the most challenging times.
OUR AESTHETIC
The collection is a reflection of the Melody’s personal design aesthetic and the needs of the brand's loyal customer. With the knowledge of both, the design and production team are equipped to create high-quality garments with fashion forward, lasting styles, while retaining brand integrity.
THE CREATIVE PROCESS
Creating a collection at Melody Thomas Studio is generally considered to be a two-fold process, comprising design and production activities that occur in the Garment and Production Studio and the Textile Production Studio, respectively. Fabrics, which are engineered in our Textile Studio, are applied to numerous designs within the designer's market categories; silhouettes range from unconstructed shift dresses, loose fitting tops and sweaters, to structured tailored coats and jackets, contoured cocktail dresses and leather pants. Items that are engineered in-Studio have an additional label of "Atelier" with the added benefit of being "Made in the USA," using the
SOURCING: Materials, Yarn & Fabric
Bearing in mind the Conceptual Design, Melody Graves, Creative Designer, will source raw materials, fiber and yarns, from Europe, Asia, and South America, which are best suited for creating the fabrics, conveying the desired designs; of greatest importance, is the ability of the fabric to perform and function in accordance with the lifestyle of the customer. To compliment textiles that are produced in-Studio.
Much like a "ostinato-based" musical piece, Melody's says her "inspiration for a fashion line occurs quite gradually, unceasingly and overtime"
TEXTILE: Engineering & Surface Design
Using traditional fabric manufacturing and surface design techniques such as – Braiding, Interlocking, knitting and embroidering, crewel and beading - Melody Thomas Studio primarily produces merino wool lace, cashmere knits and silk-wool fabrics from raw fibers and spun materials.
Much like a "crescendo," is the sensation Melody describes, upon seeing the curated collection of fabrics and Atelier textiles. Thus, with the end of materials production stage, the team is spurred on to the finalizing the collection in preparation of the production stages.
